Is a signature added this way legally valid?
It is a picture of your signature, which shows you agreed to the document, and most employers, landlords and clients accept a signed PDF for offer letters, invoices, NDAs and everyday forms. It is not a certificate-based digital signature (DSC) or Aadhaar eSign, the two kinds India’s IT Act specifically recognises and that can be verified. For high-value or disputed agreements, ask the other side what they accept or take legal advice.
When do I need a DSC or Aadhaar eSign instead?
When a law or portal asks for one: company filings on the MCA portal, income tax returns of companies and tax-audit cases, GST filings by companies and LLPs, e-tenders and some government applications need a DSC, and some services accept Aadhaar eSign through a licensed provider. This tool can’t create either of those.
Is my document or signature uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and signed by your browser. If you tick “Remember my signature”, the signature image is kept only in this browser on this device, and you can remove it anytime with “Forget saved signature”.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
Yes. Enter the password when asked; it is used only on your device. The signed copy is saved without the password, so lock it again with Protect PDF if it needs one.
Can someone copy or move my signature from the PDF?
Like a scanned signature, the image is part of the page and can be edited by someone with PDF software. Add the date next to it, share the PDF only with the people who need it, and keep your own copy of what you signed.
