Add a password to your PDF

How strong is the protection?
The file is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest standard PDF encryption. Without the password the contents can’t be read; the only way in is guessing, so use a long password.
I forgot the password. Can you recover it?
No. The password never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere, so nobody can recover it. Keep a copy somewhere safe.
Will the PDF still open on phones?
Yes. Chrome, Safari, Adobe Reader, WhatsApp’s viewer and practically every modern PDF app will ask for the password and then open it normally.
What do the print and copy restrictions do?
They tell PDF apps not to allow printing, copying text or editing. Reputable apps respect them, but they are a deterrent rather than a lock; the open password is what really protects the content.
Does it change the quality of my PDF?
No. Only the encryption is added. Text, images, links and form fields stay exactly as they were.
