How to use the tool

Do freelancers have to charge GST?
Only if you are registered under GST, which becomes compulsory once your turnover crosses the threshold or in certain cases such as some inter-state or export services. Check the current GST rules for your situation. If you are not registered, turn off “Charge GST”.
What is a SAC code?
SAC (Services Accounting Code) is the HSN-style code for services. Registered freelancers usually print it for each service line. Look up the code that matches your work, or ask your accountant.
How do I bill a client abroad?
You can make the invoice here in rupees. Exports of services have their own GST treatment (for example, a letter of undertaking), so check the rules or speak to a tax professional before issuing one.
Can I invoice by the hour?
Yes. Set the unit to hrs, enter the hours as the quantity (decimals like 7.5 work) and your hourly rate. The line amount and totals are calculated for you.
