Password protect a text message
Sending an account number, a Wi-Fi password or something personal over chat? Lock it with a password first. The message becomes a string of random-looking letters that you can paste into WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS or email, and the other person unlocks it on this page. Even if the chat is forwarded or backed up, the message stays unreadable without the password.
How to use the tool
- 1
Write the message
Type what you want to send. Hindi, Hinglish and emoji are all fine.
- 2
Set a password you both know
Agree on it on a call or in person, or tap Generate and pass it on separately.
- 3
Tap Share
On a phone the share sheet opens so you can pick WhatsApp or any app. On a computer, copy it and paste it into the chat.
- 4
They unlock it here
The shared message includes a link to this page. They choose Decrypt, paste the text and type the password.

Isn’t WhatsApp already encrypted?
WhatsApp encrypts messages on the way, but anyone who can open your phone, a chat backup or a forwarded copy can read them. A password-protected message stays locked in all of those places until someone types the password.
How should I send the password?
Not in the same chat. Say it on a phone call, in person, or through a different app. If both arrive in one place, anyone who reads that chat can unlock the message.
Does the other person need an app?
No app. They open this page in a browser and sign in with a free account. Decryption happens on their own phone or computer.
Can I send a long message or a list?
Yes. Long text works, but WhatsApp may cut very long messages. For those, use Download .txt and send the file; the receiver pastes its contents here.
